Is Telehealth Right For You?

Telehealth

Have you been hearing about this “telehealth” option to Physical Therapy and wondered if it’s right for you?

Are you noticing more pain in your low back or neck because you find yourself sitting more?

Have you started having knee pain because your gym is closed and you are running outside?

We’ve been getting lots of calls from people asking if we can still help them.

How does it all work?

Getting set up for a telehealth appointment begins just like an in clinic appointment.  Give us a call and we will see if you are a good fit for our clinic and if your problem can be easily addressed through telehealth.

If you are a current patient and would like to take advantage of the telehealth option at Physical Therapy for everyBODY then please give us a call and we can help you get the “techy” side all set up.  I promise you – we can teach you how to do it!

What does the visit look like?

Just like an in clinic visit, we start by understanding what is going on with your body.  We want to make sure we understand your complete history for an intial visit or what has been happening since your last visit for current clients.  Next we want to understand what your goals are.  This way we can customize your treatment plan and your telehealth visit to achieving those goals.

After we have a nice chat, it’s time to see you move.  Which we can do because we are on a video call!  Please make sure you are wearing more tight fitting clothing so we can see your movement (sorry, we do need you to get out of your pajamas!).  Then we will ask you to do movements as we are observing you.

If there is any pain with movement we will ask you to use one finger to point to where the pain is.

After we have completed the assessment we will explain what is going on with you.  We will explain what is causing your pain or issue.  Then we will give you a plan to start addressing what is going on with your body.

What do we do next?

We may give you some exercises to do at home to help alleviate your pain or symptoms.  If you have any equipment at home including therabands, hand weights, workout benches, or cardiovascular equipment please feel free to “bring those” with you.  We can incorporate the tools into your program.

We will always make sure to give you our signature care with prescribing and instructing you on exercises.  You will have a chance to demonstrate them for us so we can give you tips and cues to ensure you have the proper form to get the results you are looking for.

After you have completed your treatment, we will re-test the movement to see what changes have been made during the session (just like we do in the clinic!).

We finish up the session by answering all of your questions and creating the long term plan for your success.  This includes how long you need to carry out the plan and when we should meet again.

Struggling with pain and dysfunction can impact every part of our lives — it drains our energy, distracts us from our goals, and keeps us from the people and activities we love. As an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Dr. Amy Konvalin understands how frustrating those limitations can be — and she knows how to help get you back to the life you want to live! Beginning with a focused evaluation, Dr. Amy works to determine the root causes of your pain, as well as understanding how it affects the way you move through your world. Dysfunctional patterns of movement often grow worse with time and cause further damage if left untreated — so it’s important to address these issues as soon as possible. Dr. Amy knows there is no one-size-fits-all plan for success, and she partners with patients to identify their unique treatment goals and personal values. Using these goals as a guide, Amy uses her doctorate training in manual (hands-on) therapy and exercise prescription to treat patients with a wide variety of medical challenges and histories throughout the Maple Valley, Black Diamond and Covington areas. Dr. Amy is also a wife to a Boeing superstar/former C-130 navigator. While they lived in Germany, Dr. Amy was able to volunteer with the US Army to treat military personnel and civilians on base. She has two beautiful teenage ballerinas who keep her on her toes and educate her on all things ballet! Bailey, the princess pup, is her running partner and her napping partner. In the spare moments in between, Amy enjoys reading, yoga, wine with friends, Pilates, and walking on the beach.
