Burning, Tingling, Numb Feet? Here’s What You Can Do About Peripheral Neuropathy (Without Medication)

Watch the full video here:

Are your feet burning, tingling, or completely numb?
Maybe it feels like you're walking on pins and needles—or worse, like your nerves are on fire. If your doctor has told you there’s nothing to do besides taking Gabapentin or Lyrica for the rest of your life, we’ve got good news.

You are not out of options.

At Physical Therapy for everyBODY, we help people find real relief from peripheral neuropathy—without relying on medication. And we’re seeing amazing results using a combination of physical therapy and breakthrough tools like Stimpod therapy.

Let’s break it down.

What Is Peripheral Neuropathy?

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when the nerves outside your brain and spinal cord are damaged or not functioning correctly. These nerves help your brain communicate with the rest of your body, so when they misfire, you might feel:

  • Burning
  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Sharp, stabbing pain
  • Weakness or loss of coordination

This is more than “just annoying.” It can seriously impact your mobility, sleep, and overall quality of life.

What Causes Neuropathy?

The most common cause is diabetes—over 50% of people with diabetes will develop neuropathy. But there are other culprits:

  • Physical trauma or repetitive stress injuries
  • Autoimmune conditions and infections (like shingles)
  • Chemotherapy, alcohol use, or other toxins
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency

Regardless of the cause, the symptoms can feel unbearable.

The Hidden Toll: How Neuropathy Affects Your Life

Neuropathy isn’t just physical. It can wear on you emotionally and mentally:

  • 85% of people report trouble sleeping
  • Many limit their activity due to fear of falling or worsening symptoms
  • Rates of depression and anxiety are significantly higher among those with nerve pain
  • 58% say they’re unhappy with current treatment options

You deserve better

What Physical Therapy Can Do for Neuropathy

At Physical Therapy for everyBODY, we use targeted techniques to:

  • Improve circulation and nourish damaged nerves
  • Restore balance and coordination
  • Release tight muscles that may compress nerves
  • Mobilize tissue and joints to support nerve glide and healing

Every session is tailored to your body—your needs, your goals, your healing journey.

A Natural Treatment That’s Changing Lives: Stimpod Therapy

One of the most exciting tools we use is Stimpod NMS460 therapy.
Unlike a TENS unit that only masks pain, Stimpod works at the cellular level to reset how nerves communicate. It uses pulsed radiofrequency waves to “reboot” the nerves—kind of like restarting a frozen computer.

Benefits of Stimpod:

  • Drug-free
  • Non-invasive
  • No side effects
  • Effective for many types of nerve pain

Important Note: Stimpod is not appropriate for people with pacemakers or implanted electrical devices.

Dr. Amy Konvalin

Dr. Amy Konvalin

Struggling with pain and dysfunction can impact every part of our lives — it drains our energy, distracts us from our goals, and keeps us from the people and activities we love. As an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Dr. Amy Konvalin understands how frustrating those limitations can be — and she knows how to help get you back to the life you want to live! Beginning with a focused evaluation, Dr. Amy works to determine the root causes of your pain, as well as understanding how it affects the way you move through your world. Dysfunctional patterns of movement often grow worse with time and cause further damage if left untreated — so it’s important to address these issues as soon as possible. Dr. Amy knows there is no one-size-fits-all plan for success, and she partners with patients to identify their unique treatment goals and personal values. Using these goals as a guide, Amy uses her doctorate training in manual (hands-on) therapy and exercise prescription to treat patients with a wide variety of medical challenges and histories throughout the Maple Valley, Black Diamond and Covington areas. Dr. Amy is also a wife to a Boeing superstar/former C-130 navigator. While they lived in Germany, Dr. Amy was able to volunteer with the US Army to treat military personnel and civilians on base. She has two beautiful teenage ballerinas who keep her on her toes and educate her on all things ballet! Bailey, the princess pup, is her running partner and her napping partner. In the spare moments in between, Amy enjoys reading, yoga, wine with friends, Pilates, and walking on the beach.
