Do I need Physical Therapy?

Question

Are you wondering if Physical Therapy can even help you with your problem? Or maybe you have tried PT in the past but didn’t get the results you are looking for. Well, read on for the top 5 reasons people just like you are looking to Physical Therapy to get them moving – like they did years ago!

the top 5 reasons people just like you are looking to Physical Therapy

Reason 1

I can’t do what I want to do

This is the #1 reason most of our patients seek out help. Because they are no longer able to run, play with their kids, sleep, or do the activities that they love. Perhaps you are looking for someone who can help you be able to return to doing “all the things”.

Then you are in luck! Because that is what we do here at Physical Therapy for everyBODY. We help people return to playing with their kids like they want to including: walking, running, jumping, and sitting. We also help people return to their previous level of activity including running, yoga, Crossfit, and hiking.

How do we do that? Well, the plan varies for each person as we create a customized plan based on you and your needs. But, in general, we first get to the root of your problem by figuring out what is actually causing you pain or dysfunction. What is actually keeping you from dong what it is you want to be able to do? Then we work on improving the motion of the joint, ligament, tendon, or muscle that is limited.

Why is it important to make sure that you are moving correctly? Because Movement Is Life! Every tissue in your body is created to heal itself through correct movement. Read that again – every tissue in your body is created to heal itself through CORRECT MOVEMENT. If you are not moving correctly then you are not able to heal.

That is why we focus on improving movement to ensure that your tissues are able to heal. As the tissues are able to heal (and the pain decreases!) then you are able to start strengthening. Your body will become stronger so that you are able to return to all the activities that you have previously enjoyed.

Reason 2

I can’t move the way I want.

Have you ever woken up in the morning, gotten out of bed, and wondered why you have so much pain? Then you understand this next point.

Many of our patients tell us that they aren’t able to move the way they did 20 years ago. You may be feeling like you are stiff and your joints just don’t move like they used to. Or you may feel like your muscles just don’t stretch the way they used to. Either way, you just aren’t able to do the things that you did 20 years ago.

Now, many people may give up at this point and decide there is no way they are ever going to “get back to where they were before”. Friends, we are here to tell you that there is no reason why you can’t do what you did 20 years ago. Truly, it’s scientific!

Your body has the ability to heal any tissue that has been damaged. From joints to muscles, your body completely has the ability to heal itself. Your body is just asking to be put in the correct position to be able to heal itself!

Every tissue in your body needs to be able to move correctly so that it is able to heal. You may need some help to get your tissues moving correctly so that you are fully able to heal. Reason 3

I can’t run with my kids…or with my grandkids

Have you ever had to tell your children (or grandchildren) that you CAN’T run, play soccer, or sit on the floor with them? Then you know that sinking feeling in your stomach that sidelines you from being able to do the things that you want to do.

But, what if you WERE able to do all the things that your kids (and grandkids!) wanted to do? To be able to fully participate in your life the way you wanted to. What would that feel like?

I will be completely transparent here. This particular point is not only a goal but I pact that I made with my husband. Right after I graduated from PT school my husband and I made an agreement. That we would never say “No” to our children OR GRANDCHILDREN because we were physically not able to do something.

So, for the past 21 years (and counting!) we have worked hard to keep ourselves moving so we can keep up with our children – and our grandchildren in the ditant future!

If you are frustrated that you can’t keep up with your kiddos or wanting to ensure that you can keep up with your grandchildren then you need to keep moving today! Moving today is your best indicator of success in the future.

Reason 4

I am too D@#N young to feel this old!

Have you ever found yourself saying “I feel so old?” and yet your age does not actually agree with that? Then it’s time to get some help so you can get moving – at an age appropriate level.

Again, your body is actually able to heal itself as long as it is moving correctly. Which means that you can get help to move correctly so your body is able to heal. And, once your body heals then you will be able to do all the things you love!

Reason 5

I want more out of life

Are you ready to find out what your body is actually capable of? Are you looking for some help get back to all the activities you used to be able to do? Them you have found the right place for you.

Here at Physical Therapy for everyBODY we believe that you (and your body!) can move like you did 20 years ago. And, yes, you can do the things you did 20 years ago. Your body may just need some help to get back to where it used to be.

If you are wondering more about how we can help you get back to “doing all the things” then we invite you to sign up for our Free Discovery Visit. During this No Obligation appointment you will have an opportunity to tell us your story and what your goals are. This gives us an opportunity to see if you are a good fit for what we offer here at PT4EB.

Struggling with pain and dysfunction can impact every part of our lives — it drains our energy, distracts us from our goals, and keeps us from the people and activities we love. As an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Dr. Amy Konvalin understands how frustrating those limitations can be — and she knows how to help get you back to the life you want to live! Beginning with a focused evaluation, Dr. Amy works to determine the root causes of your pain, as well as understanding how it affects the way you move through your world. Dysfunctional patterns of movement often grow worse with time and cause further damage if left untreated — so it’s important to address these issues as soon as possible. Dr. Amy knows there is no one-size-fits-all plan for success, and she partners with patients to identify their unique treatment goals and personal values. Using these goals as a guide, Amy uses her doctorate training in manual (hands-on) therapy and exercise prescription to treat patients with a wide variety of medical challenges and histories throughout the Maple Valley, Black Diamond and Covington areas. Dr. Amy is also a wife to a Boeing superstar/former C-130 navigator. While they lived in Germany, Dr. Amy was able to volunteer with the US Army to treat military personnel and civilians on base. She has two beautiful teenage ballerinas who keep her on her toes and educate her on all things ballet! Bailey, the princess pup, is her running partner and her napping partner. In the spare moments in between, Amy enjoys reading, yoga, wine with friends, Pilates, and walking on the beach.
